Hodei Stool Collection x Akaba

Hodei is a family of stools shaped through an exercise in reduction, balancing lightness, comfort and structural clarity. Defined by the dialogue between an organic seat and a restrained steel structure, the project reflects a quiet Basque sensibility rooted in functionality, material honesty and enduring everyday use.

HODEI THE SUPERLIGHT

Hodei, conceived through an exercise in reduction — an exploration of how little is needed to create a familiar, enduring and comfortable object. Developed over two years in close collaboration with Akaba, the project reflects a careful balance between precision, lightness and character.

Its silhouette is defined by the relationship between an organic oval seat and a restrained steel structure, where the triangular footrest introduces both stability and a subtle architectural tension. Particular attention was given to weight and proportion throughout the development process, resulting in one of the lightest and narrowest stools on the market. Weighing only 3.5 kg and measuring 37.3 cm wide, the high stool approaches everyday use with an almost effortless presence — quiet yet distinctive, shaped by a Basque sensibility rooted in industry, functionality and material honesty.

Its name — the Basque word for “cloud” — refers to this sense of visual lightness and simplicity. Available in wood or upholstered finishes, Hodei was developed alongside a new colour palette introduced by Akaba, reflecting the evolving identity of a company deeply connected to contemporary Spanish design culture.
